Slidee Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Slidee website (slidee.ai) and the Slidee application (app.slidee.ai). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account data: Email address, name, and password when you register (or profile data from Google OAuth).
  • Content data: Presentation text, prompts, uploaded documents (PDF, DOCX, PPTX), and URLs you provide as sources.
  • Payment data: Billing information is collected and processed directly by Stripe. We receive only your subscription status, plan type, and last four digits of your card. We never store full payment card details.
  • Communication data: Messages you send to our support team.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, session duration, presentation creation and export actions.
  • Device data: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and IP address.
  • Referral data: How you arrived at our site (e.g., search engine, referral link).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • Service delivery: To create and manage your account, generate presentations, process exports, and provide the features you request.
  • AI processing: To send your prompts and input text to our AI providers to generate slide content (see Section 4).
  • Billing: To process subscriptions and payments through Stripe.
  • Product improvement: To analyze aggregated, de-identified usage patterns to improve features, templates, and user experience.
  • Support: To respond to your questions and resolve issues.
  • Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Communications: To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts). We will only send marketing emails with your explicit consent.
  • Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we process your data under the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity: Account management, service delivery, billing.
  • Legitimate interests: Product improvement, security, fraud prevention.
  • Consent: Marketing communications, optional analytics.
  • Legal obligation: Tax records, regulatory compliance.

4. AI Data Processing

When you use AI features, the following data is sent to our third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI) for processing:

  • Your text prompts and topic descriptions
  • Extracted text from uploaded source documents or scraped URLs
  • Presentation context (tone, slide count preferences)

What is NOT sent: Your email address, name, payment information, or account credentials.

No training on your data: We do not use your content to train AI models. Our AI provider processes your data solely to generate the requested output and does not retain it for model training purposes.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: With trusted third parties that help us operate the Service (see Section 6).
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of Slidee Ltd, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case your data would remain subject to this Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Slidee:

  • Supabase — Authentication and database hosting (EU/US)
  • Stripe — Payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
  • OpenAI — AI content generation (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy)
  • Vercel — Application hosting and CDN
  • Pexels — Stock image sourcing for presentations

Each provider processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data protection regulations.

7. Cookies and Tracking

Slidee uses minimal cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Session authentication tokens required for the Service to function. These cannot be disabled.
  • No advertising cookies: We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • No third-party trackers: We do not embed third-party tracking scripts (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.).

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

  • All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
  • Database encryption at rest
  • Access controls limiting employee access to personal data
  • Regular security reviews of infrastructure and dependencies

While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion request.
  • Presentation data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required by tax and financial regulations.
  • Server logs: Automatically deleted after 90 days.

10. Your Rights

All users

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your presentations (PPTX/PDF) before account deletion
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time

EEA and UK residents (GDPR)

You additionally have the right to:

  • Restrict or object to processing of your data
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format)
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g., the ICO in the UK)

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

You additionally have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal data)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

11. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at legal@slidee.ai.

12. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States and the European Union. When we transfer data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission where required.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
